Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. First, I made another pie. It’s a pumpkin pie that I made from a REAL PUMPKIN (which I steamed in the microwave), and a butter-cookie crust. Topped with coconut whipped cream, which I finally got to whip! It was spectacular. Now, onto costume! Julie was going to be away, and I was going to be all by my lonesome, but the hurricane made his trip become not possible, so we tossed together a quick tardis for him! (Really.) The TARDIS is made from poster board from presentations, you know? Two of them, held … Continue reading Happy Halloween!

Out. For. A. Walk.

My walks have been something I really look forward to lately. I head up to the Market, or down the canal. On Friday I walked up to the Starbucks on Notre Dame and got myself a fancy coffee. It was awesome. It was also like 20 degrees. Last week, though, it was rainy, and I had my trusty trench. Trench, Old Navy Boots, VANS Jeans, Les Ailes de la Mode Top & hoodie, Reitmans My non-bang bangs are being really good lately. My hair in general is behaving pretty much like I always wanted it to. Yet I do want … Continue reading Out. For. A. Walk.

Professional-Like

Well, it’s October, and I started looking for work. I’ve had a few interviews so far, and one was even promising! I wore this: Urk! Lumpy. I swear it wasn’t this bad in person. Pants, Attitude by Jay Manuel at Sears (seriously.) Blouse, thrifted, originally Reitmans Sweater, F21 Boots, Christian Siriano for Payless (these are so awesome) Jewels, Mina’s wedding Jewels I did a french twist in my hair, and sectioned off the front to curl like it does. Putting most of it up and just curling my bangs is something I’ve done a few times lately and I love. … Continue reading Professional-Like

Raclette.

Ever had raclette? Julie introduced me to this amazing dinner. We invited the Butchers round to melt cheese and drizzle it on things. It was deeeee-licious. Find a raclette grill. Melt cheese on things. Do it! Since when is this a food blog, though, amirite? (Since now! My blog, my choice of topic!) Okay, okay. Here’s an outfit I wore recently. Jeans, Les Ailes Sweater, Zellers Tee, Urban Outfitters Boots, Vans, gift from Carmen Also, sidebun! I’m so super keen on how my sidebun turned out. It was once mistaken for Leia buns, but I don’t have enough hair for … Continue reading Raclette.

Glymm, October 2012

The October Edition of the Glymm bag is themed for Breast Cancer Awareness. Lash Card. This seems like a ridiculous idea, to me. Sure, occasionally I knock the brush, sure, but do I need a card to sit over my lashes to avoid getting mascara on my eyelid? If I really needed a barrier, wouldn’t I just use paper? I don’t, though, need a barrier. Femme Couture Lightening Lash Mascara. Bringing the mascara count to six? Seven? I’ve been wearing the heck out of my Julep mascara, btw. It’s fantastic. CyberDerm H2O Hydration & Every Morning Sun Whip. I’m a … Continue reading Glymm, October 2012

Topbox, October 2012

Mail today, mail today! AVEDA Invanti Exfoliating Shampoo & Thickening Conditioner. AVEDA is my spa of choice for massage, but I’ve not used any of their products. I do have thin, thin hair, and have never found any product that actually made any difference in that area, so I don’t have high hopes for the thickening promises, but I’m sure it will be pleasant. It smells heavenly. MaskerAide Hydrating Facial Sheet Masks. I like this idea a lot. It’s a facial mask that you peel out and apply – like a .. sheet. It’s right in the name, I guess. … Continue reading Topbox, October 2012

Cozy

I made a pie! It was delicious! I used the Maison Canelle gluten-free pie crust, because I’m still intimidated by gf pastries, and it was dry and hard, but very edible. Having just eaten my mom’s butter tarts with real crust, though, I remember what pastry should taste like, and it’s not really this. It looks amazing, and the filling tastes fantastic. I’m definitely going to try my own crust in the nearish future. Unrelated, I also wore clothes: These are my slightly skinnier jeans, so apparently I’ve lost weight while being off. Jeans, Les Ailes de la Mode Sweater, … Continue reading Cozy

Spade.

My nephew turned four over the weekend. He celebrated with a turkey din, and I popped round afterward to shower him with gifts. Giant hulk hands, and the like. He’s very into super-heroes. He was pretty pleased with it all, you can tell. While I was out shopping for his pressie, I stumbled upon fabulous Kate Spade tights ($10 at winners). These, but in fuschia/purpley. I left them behind, since I’m jobless and shouldn’t buy Kate Spade tights, but my fabulous lad snuck them into his cart, and made excuses to nip off and buy them for me. He’s wonderful. … Continue reading Spade.

Hat.

Did you know I love hats? I do. I have a small (large) collection. I seldom wear them, because who wears hats nowadays? Well, I’m going to start. I love hats. Tank, H&M Dress, Urban Outfitters Jeans, Reitmans Shoes, Spring Necklace, Trove Hat, Poppycock! Vintage (Oh, god, to get the link I had to go to the shop and there are SO MANY HATS I WANT) This is what I wore out for DUMPLINGS and walking about. We hit the Old Port for a while, and it was quite nice. The weather was absolutely perfect. I find, too, often when … Continue reading Hat.

So, I’ve learned that to keep sane I must leave the house at least once a day. It will be my goal to do that. It is also my goal to wake up before 10, but that’s not going so well. Dress, hand-me-down from sister Sweater, hand-me-down from Lauren Socks, F21 Shoes, Fred Perry I really like this outfit! It’s fun and cute and comfortable, and sensible to wear about the house all day, as it’s jersey and such. There are new (since July) neighbours who’ve boarded off their section of the back gallery. They’ve a tiny dog, so I … Continue reading
