Coming to the end of my backlog of photos!

This dress is another one of my old standbys that pushes my chin up a little higher, makes me stand a little straighter, and puts a bit of the spring in my step.

Seeing all these H&M items together makes me think about just how reliant I was on fast-fashion to build my wardrobe. Swtiching to Canadian made items has been challenging, but I find it makes me think a lot harder about what I really need to buy (versus just buying a dress because it’s $7).
I’m feeling very good about my fashion choices. My outfits are far less exciting than they used to be, there’s more of a grown-up feel to most of what I put together these days (except on weekends, when it’s all Pam & Cheryl/Carol ) but overall I’m happier with the items I am buying than I used to be. I feel less compelled to buy something because it’s new, and am more likely to re-wear something … even if I wore it just last week.
It’s a good change for me, I think.

Did I tell you about my meal at Bonny’s Vegetarian? I didn’t!

Well!

Bonnys has been on my to-try list for an age. I usually am quite taken with vegetarian restaurants. Aux Vivres breakfast is still among my absolute favourites. So, last week, Lauren and I headed out to Bonny’s. I was super impressed by their summer drink list (non-alcoholic and boozy alike). I opted for a Lemonade with watermelon and .. jalapeno! The sensation of cool, crisp watermelon paired with the bite of the jalapeno was unexpected and fantastic. I was super duper impressed. It was a good start to a good meal.

Being all fussy about getting sick and whatnot, I was pleased to see they had a number of gluten-free options, including vegan ones. I picked the Boca Burger – a bean and chickpea flour patty, topped with avocado and salsa. The cheese they offer isn’t dairy-free, so I went Vegan. Normally, the gluten-free option subs hummus for a bun, but they were out of hummus, so I got a mountain of avocado. The garden salad alongside was massive, topped with nuts and seeds, and a beautiful dressing that made my mouth happy.

You know how much I love my sweeties, so when I saw not one but two gluten-free dessert options I was stoked. I got the rice pudding, and hoovered it back in about twelve seconds. It reminded me of those tinned rice puddings my dad used to eat, in the orange and white wrapper – in a good way.

I left feeling saited, not overfull, and not sick, which is always fantastic.

  1. Hehe, those t-shirts are awesome. 🙂

I enjoy this outfit, even if it is mostly fast-fashion, as you say. It’s nicely put together. Glad you are figuring out more of what you really need with Canadian pieces though. Yay Canada!

    That restaurant sounds fantastic.
