This year was no different. We arrived with “portable” hot tub in tow, eggs courtesy of the Easter Bunny, and board games galore, scoffed wonderful, wonderful pancakes at Dumfries Maple (above), and generally took some time to relax.
The portable hot tub really is great. It inflates and deflates super quickly. It doesn’t heat well / fast, though. You really need to fill it with hot water – our tank is a mere 60 gallons, so it’s three or four cycles of fill / wait / fill / wait, and even then you need to wait a few hours for it to hit a comfortable 100. I mean, when it’s -5C out it could be a pretty cold tub and still be more pleasant than the outside air, but it’s a thing.
Once in, the temperature plummets, too. After about an hour you drop down to 97 from 104. Hopefully in the summertime it’s more consistent, since it won’t be working so hard to stay warm.
All in all though, I’m pretty pleased with it. Portable hot tub. Don’t hate.
So, we lounged about, played with PIXEL and irritated Zoe, took down a dragon and overcame the mark of lolz, and for breakfast, headed out to beloved Dumfries Maple for some (gluten-free) pancakes with amazing maple syrup. Yarm yarm pancakes!
Dumfries Maple is delightful, and if you’re even Dumfries adjacent you should go.
Egg hunt went okay! I believe the Easter bunny may still have some hanging around that haven’t been found yet.
All in all, a great quick relaxing getaway. Things have been particularly stressful at work lately, so it’s nice to have some scheduled breaktime.
