It’s working out well, I think! Slightly more adventursome for me, but I like finding ways that colours go together and go with my hair. Speaking of, yesterday (June 30), I spent the day making a slight change. Out with the pink, in with the .. well, i won’t spoil it. It’s great, though!
This post is going up on Canada day, and I’ll be spending it with Lauren, doing nothing patriotic, sadly. I may check out the fireworks tonight if I can see them from the Canal, but I won’t brave downtown. Two years ago, I lived downtown, and now I won’t venture out there unless it’s necessary. Getting older irritates me.
We also got our first CSA basket from Verger Aux 4 Vents. I was totally underwhelmed. Contents:
Tomatoes
Turnips
Cucumber
Bok Choy
Oak Leaf Lettuce
Basil
Parsely
The page says we were meant to get scapes, which would have been awesome, as I LOVE scapes, but there were none. My whole life I thought I didn’t like turnips, so we decided to deep fry them. Turnips make great fries! Not soggy or turnippy (okay a little turnippy) but nice. The lettuce is not for me, it’s very bitter. The tomatoes I’ve set to ripe but will probably throw into a jam, as they’re not great looking. I love cucumber, and am looking forward to tasting the farm-fresh, and the remainder of the turnips I’m going to pickle.
I’m glad we’ve gone with the CSA, but I really hope the future baskets are larger, more variety-filled, and hopefully have things I enjoy in them, too.
Yay for veggie boxes! : ) We’re on our second/third week right now too with one in NB (http://www.strawberryhillfarm.ca/). Your variety sounds tasty! Apparently we’ll be getting some bok choy this week. Pumped! : )
